History is (according to my classmates)…
a collection of facts, events … the past
it comes from a human’s perspective
an observation
knowledge of events
what has happened
a study of the past
what happened in the past, present, always, including the present
prehistory as well
could be any topic, not just political history (and not just “dead white males)
precedents, influences the future
historians research and share findings, investigate, make comparisons
They use many sources
Historians are not just record keepers – they are also thinkers who interpret the data and make judgments.
